The game focuses on building a base, creating an army, and then destroying enemy forces. Creating new units and buildings, as well as conducting research, requires two resources mined by workers: food and ore. Additionally, maps typically feature one or more Places of Power—special artifacts in the form of statues that provide various bonuses, such as increased health for all units. An army that expels all enemy troops from the area around a Place of Power automatically captures it, allowing multiple transfers of Power. For destroying enemies and occupying Places of Power, the player earns Destiny Points, which can be used to summon heroes or perform various magical phenomena. The number and quality of units a player can create depends on the amount of resources and the base's development level. Leveling up in the main building grants access to new buildings, units, and upgrades. In particular, some units can become invisible, requiring detector units to be detected by the enemy. In addition to standard stats—health, damage, and armor—squads differ by weapon type. There are three standard weapon types in the game: blunt, slashing, and spear, implemented using the "rock, paper, scissors" principle. A fourth weapon type, heroic, has advantages over the three standard ones but is only available to heroes. Heroes have superior stats compared to standard squads, can gain experience, and become more powerful as they level up and unlock new abilities. Furthermore, a fallen hero can be resurrected using Destiny Points. Two armies are available in the game: Light and Darkness, each with its own set of squads, buildings, and magic. The Light army boasts superior squad stats, which is offset by the Dark army's lower cost.
