Raise fortresses, designing complex structures of wood and stone to fend off waves of Nightmares that seek to overwhelm you. Command powerful units, channel each one's abilities, and build lines of defense, promptly plugging any gaps. Raid uncharted lands to harvest vital resources needed for construction and military might. Don't forget the resistanceâ€”the onslaught is constantly intensifying, siege after siege, night after night. Far from the relative safety of the Last City, it is your fortresses and outposts that hold back the hordes of Nightmares from striking at the heart of humanity. Build impenetrable strongholds in a variety of biomes, using a complex building system that allows you to forge your own line of defense. Be creative in your strategy and adapt your plans to the terrain. Take advantage of natural chokepoints, heights, and local resources as you prepare for a night attack. With a modular construction system, you can build as you please: one block at a time, using your own blueprints or those of other players. Use your hard-earned resources to construct structures that open up new areas of the map, or construct fortifications that provide your troops with safe firing points. Use wood for quick and inexpensive construction, or build with durable stone that better withstands enemy attacks. Monitor damage, as falling blocks destroy both friends and foes. Skillfully deploying units to defeat enemies allows you to crush hordes of Nightmares. Adapt your fortress to your growing needs. Acquire new tools and expand your territory to harvest the resources you need to build a powerful defense. Optimize the path from deposits to warehouses with well-placed structures, and don't forget the roofâ€”use limited space to its full potential. While Nightmares can test your defenses during the day, it's only at night that they attack in full force. Spend your days exploring the world and building your stronghold, and when the sun begins to set, it's best to focus on preparing for a night attack. You'll need to skillfully command your soldiers, from keen-eyed archers to devastating gunners, as the situation constantly changes as new Nightmares appear. Lure enemies into narrow passages strewn with devastating traps and set ambushes, raining down fire arrows and pots of poison. Place your soldiers in strategic positions. Take advantage of their abilities and position them on high ground, allowing them to operate with maximum effectiveness.A wise architect designs fortresses with multi-layered defenses. Construct vital structures to defend against growing threats and achieve new levels of prosperity and technology. Resource outposts, recruitment centers, and villager homes all directly or indirectly support your troops in the fight against enemies. If the walls collapse, even villager homes can be used as a secondary line of defense. Defend your fortress at all costs. Cataclismo includes an epic single-player story campaign, a Skirmish mode with the ability to create custom maps, and an Endless mode where you'll face challenges on procedurally generated maps and waves of Nightmares. A sophisticated map editor allows you to create and share your own Skirmish maps to challenge the community, and a unique building system allows architecture enthusiasts to create, share, and help others defend against Nightmares. The Cataclysm has devastated the world, but hope is not yet lost.
