Having escaped the city of Midgar, Cloud and his friends set off on a journey across the planet to meet their destiny. Ride chocobos across endless plains and forests, visit a multitude of interesting places, and become the hero of a legendary story.

Plot: All life is born on the planet and returns to its embraceâ€”such is the balance of the flow of life. However, the sinister Shinra Corporation seeks to disrupt this balance by draining the planet's life energy and using it as fuel called "mako." After a brutal battle, former SOLDIER operative Cloud Strife and his comrades Tifa, Eirith, Barret, and Red XIII escape the mako-fueled city of Midgar and embark on a journey across the planet. In pursuit of the fallen hero Sephiroth, they will cross countless vast plains and forests, visit numerous familiar locations, and journey to the Forgotten City from the original FINAL FANTASY VII. While Cloud and his comrades pursue Sephiroth, crippled SOLDIER 1st Class Zack Fair attempts to cross the wastelands leading to Midgar with a close friend delirious from severe mako poisoning. He soon notices an ominous rift growing in the sky... A Shinra resistance groupâ€”a growing force led by the current Wutai governmentâ€”declares war. A group of mysterious men in dark black cloaks carries the remains of Jenova, the so-called "calamity that fell from the sky," to an unknown destination. Sensing the impending crisis upon the planet, ancient guardians known as Weapons begin to awaken within the flow of life. The machinations of Cloud's nemesis, Sephiroth, cause countless destinies to collide and intertwine, potentially changing the entire future.
