FOREWARNED is a co-op horror game designed for online play. You can also play with a friend online on pirated versions. This indie title uses a first-person perspective and supports virtual reality headsets. VR users can participate in matches with other users. Online play is limited to up to four players. FOREWARNED can also be played solo. Locations are randomly generated each time. The AI's behavior is also constantly changing. Before each round, players assemble a mini-squad, select equipment, and then set out on a mission. Team members can communicate via voice chat and coordinate their actions. They wander the ruins in search of relics and other loot. Loot can be used to upgrade current equipment and purchase more powerful gear. Leveling is also available. Traps and monsters hinder exploration of the tombs. Enemies vary in appearance, stats, and abilities. The plot revolves around archaeologists using satellite images to discover ancient burial sites in the Sahara. Scientists and treasure hunters venture into the Egyptian catacombs. However, they soon discover they are inhabited by the Medjay, an elite warrior race originally meant to protect the pharaoh but cursed and driven mad. The free-to-play multiplayer feature allows players to control these monsters, but only after their heroes are killed. Once players become monsters, they have a choice: help their former teammates or hinder them.
