Description : â€œTo begin to think is to begin to undermine yourself,â€ wrote Albert Camus, and itâ€™s hard to disagree with that. To reflect on one's life means to knock oneself down, to stop, to begin to sort through one's experiences, to discard the superfluous and unnecessary, to destroy the old in the hope of constructing the newâ€”in other words, to undermine. One cannot help but note the severity of this word, as this action is associated with pain, loss, the need to choose difficult paths, and sometimes to take risks in order to avoid new mistakes and not fall off the path. But is this pain worth enduring? What happens if we simply go with the flow? How will our lives unfold then? The French philosopher Albert Camus posed similar questions in his famous essay, "The Myth of Sisyphus." In short, the ancient Greek myth goes like this: for excessive impudence and cunning, the gods condemned Sisyphus to forever roll a huge stone up a mountain, only to have it constantly fall, forcing him to start all over again. It would seem that what could be worse than this futile labor? What is Sisyphus thinking about as he climbs the mountain? And why should we care? Maybe we should admit that our lives are a bit like the life of this Sisyphus?
