HELLCARD is designed in the same style as the original Book of Demons. They also share a common universe. The first game was a simplified Diablo-like game about fighting evil that had awakened in the catacombs beneath the city. The spin-off shifted genres, transforming from hack and slash into a turn-based card RPG. One of the game's hallmarks, the cardboard graphics, remains. Roguelike elements remain. Now, it's not just a single character who descends into the dungeon, but a group of adventurers. HELLCARD is designed for co-op play, but you can also slay the undead in solo mode. Single-player fans can recruit AI-controlled companions to join their team. Players will encounter familiar enemiesâ€”spiders, skeletons, ghosts, and demons. Many of the enemies, like the aesthetic itself, once again parody the Diablo universe.
