Description:
ICARUS is a session-based PvE survival simulator for up to eight players. The harsh Icarus, the greatest mistake in human history, awaits you. In pursuit of riches, you must explore, gather, craft tools, and track animals. Prospectors leave the orbital station for a strictly limited time and set out to brave the harsh conditions of an alien planet, complete faction missions, and search for rare and highly valuable exo-resources. Survivors return to orbit and use the extracted exo-matter to develop new equipment, then undertake an even more risky expedition with their newly acquired knowledge. Those who fail to return are destined to disappear without a trace. Icarus was once planned to be turned into a second Earth, but after a failed terraforming attempt, its atmosphere became toxic, and humanity abandoned hope of colonizing a new planet. Icarus became a constant source of humor, a symbol of the arrogance of man who dared to aim for the unattainable. However, when xenobiologists discovered that the cause of the failure was so-called exomatter, interest in Icarus was rekindled. The discovery of this incredibly valuable resource sparked a veritable gold rush and heightened political tensions on Earth, and prospectors flocked to Icarus.
SURVIVAL
The brutal PvE world of Icarus seems ready to do anything to exhaust you to the limit and physically destroy you. A toxic atmosphere, dangerous animals, brutal stormsâ€”Icarus has no shortage of character. You will have to plan your actions, whether building a shelter, searching for oxygen, tracking game, or stocking up on supplies for the journey, and constantly calculate the situation several steps ahead.
EXPLORE
A deceptively familiar, yet alien, world awaits you. The first team of prospectors has been authorized to explore a resource-rich area of â€‹â€‹over 64 kmÂ², featuring diverse natural conditions and numerous hidden nooks and crannies. The entire area has been hand-crafted. To survive, rely on the available resources: every tree can be chopped down and every boulder can be broken.
CRAFTING AND PROGRESS:
Master two technology trees: one on the planet and one in orbit. Handcrafted tools, structures, and mechanisms will help you survive the expedition to the surface of Icarus and achieve your goal. Gain experience on the planet, master unique skills, and develop useful talents. Returning to orbit with rare exoresources, you can develop more advanced equipment. Choose which skills to develop and which new developments to take on your next expedition to complete the task faster, cover greater distances, automate production, or simply improve your chances of survival. There are no trivial details here.
LIMITED TIME
Your time on Icarus is strictly limited: remember to watch your watch and make every second count. You choose the duration of your session: from a couple of hours to days or even weeks. Beware: if you don't make it to the shuttle that will take you to the orbital station in time, you won't be returned. You can optionally set aside time to build a permanent base. Each mission has a specific objective that must be achieved within the allotted time, but how exactly you proceed is entirely up to you.
THE BRAVE WILL PROSPER.
Your character is the key to success. Explore the peculiarities of the alien planet, face new dangers, and push yourself to step outside your comfort zone time and again. The cautious will survive, but fortune favors the brave. New talents, technologies, and exo-resources await those willing to risk everything. Are you ready to challenge Icarus?
BUILD YOUR OUTPOST
Your Outpost is a permanent map with no time limit and limited hazards, perfect for building. A thin line of vistas, synchronized with the orbit of orbital stations, lines up with Icarus's equator. Known as Outposts, these vistas can be abandoned at any time, making them ideal for founding a settlement, interacting with other prospectors, or testing your architectural skills. In the base game, each prospector is entitled to one Outpost.
