Order of Battle: World War II follows in the footsteps of all-time classics like Panzer General . With over 700 units, each unique in appearance and behavior, players can create and manage their army, navy, and air force throughout campaigns set in various theaters of war during World War II. A unique specialization system allows players to customize their forces with special units, bonuses, and abilities that reflect the differences in strategy and mentality of the various factions. A set of unique commandersâ€”generals, pilots, and captainsâ€”is gradually unlocked throughout the campaigns. They can be assigned to specific units to provide unique bonuses to everyone within their zone of command. While proper use of troop types and tactics remains the player's priority, clever use of commanders can tip the balance of an offensive operation or buy enough time on the defensive to turn the tide. In
Order of Battle: World War II, a unique supply system also plays a key role, directly impacting unit combat effectiveness. Landing on an enemy island without support ships will prevent an invasion force from establishing a solid foothold, while disrupting enemy supply lines, isolating their units, and encircling maneuvers are strategies essential for achieving ultimate victory. Add to this an intuitive in-game scenario editor, multiplayer support for up to 4 players via Hotseat or Slitherine's PBEM++ server system, and you have a game with endless replayability.
