Description : Story, exploration, turn-based combat, and environmental interactionâSea of ââStars strives to modernize the traditional RPG in every aspect of the game, while maintaining a heartfelt dose of nostalgia and good old-fashioned fun. Sabotage promises to do all this in its signature style for each system. God is a Geek â 10/10 Itâs very difficult to find anything bad in Sea of ââStars, except that new abilities arenât introduced often enough in the first few hours, in my opinion. I still had a lot of fun playing through the introduction (I understand a slower pace is needed to get used to the combat system and timing), but I expected the game to pick up the pace faster. Sea of ââStars is one of the best RPGs Iâve ever played. The developers took the best of other games in the genre and made them even better. The battles are gripping from start to finish, the characters are charming to the core, and the graphics and sound are incredible. There are so many great releases out there right now, but you simply have no excuse not to play this iconic RPG ASAP. GamesRadar+ â 4.5/5 It's refreshing to see that Sabotage doesn't simply imitate classic '90s JRPGs, but actually strives to capture their essence. Its nostalgia doesn't feel gratuitous or cynicalâinstead, it blends disparate references with original ideas into a cohesive whole. It's a bit disappointing that the turn-based combat and other systems lack depth. However, the incredible quality of the pixel art, soundtrack, environment design, characters, and story ensure that Sea of ââStars remains a stunning game until the very end. IGN â 8/10 Sea of ââStars is a great RPG tribute that brings together many of the best elements of '90s classics, including Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, and even Star Ocean: The Second Story. So, it's fair to say that the world, art style, and mechanics aren't entirely original. But the 30-hour campaign has enough interesting twists to make the game engaging in its own right. This isn't just a nostalgia trip. The combat system can be challenging to master at first. And once you get the hang of it, battles are engaging only until they become a bit repetitive due to limited customization. The combat is offset by a strong soundtrack, a charming story, and a plethora of interesting locations and boss battles. All of this makes Sea of ââStars a worthwhile journey.
