Description : The game recreates the Taiping Rebellion of 1851-1864. It was one of the deadliest and most terrible civil wars in China, claiming millions of lives. Play as the Taiping rebels and their allies fighting to establish their own state, or become the Qing Emperor and crush the rebellion and its foreign allies before they overthrow your dynasty. Between 1851 and 1864, China was engulfed in its most horrific and deadly civil war, the Taiping Rebellion, which claimed the lives of millions of Chinese. In this game, you will play as the rebellious forces of the Heavenly Kingdom (also known as the Taiping) and their other allies, such as the Nien bandits, against the Qing Dynasty. Other rebellions and the intervention of foreign powers will plague both sides. Scenarios last from 8 turns (for smaller ones) to over 164 turns (the 13-year Grand Campaign), each representing a one-month period from April 1851 to December 1864.
Game Features :
  • The Taipings' goal is to establish a viable state and a strong army in the heart of China. Once they have gathered their forces and supported other rebellions, they will crush the Qing before they even realize the danger. Use assistance from all sources to achieve surprise and success. Speed ​​is key, but leadership problems and internal strife could pose a real danger in the long term.
  • The Qing are unprepared for the rebellion, viewing it as a minor incident in remote areas of their vast empire. They must grasp the stakes quickly, before the enemy becomes too powerful and invincible. The troops are weak and scattered, and the leadership is poor. New forces need to be trained, better weapons purchased, and the right leaders hired, but this can only happen once the Emperor understands the situation (according to the Qing Imperial Anxiety Index).
