Escape From Butcher Bay , you find yourself in the maximum security prison Butcher Bay, located on a remote extraterrestrial penal colony. No prisoner has ever managed to escape from there. The facility consists of several wings with increasing security levels, and the underground mines are inhabited by dangerous, aggressive creatures. The game's protagonist is Richard B. Riddick, played and voiced by Vin Diesel, the key character in both films that launched the franchise. Captured by bounty hunter William J. Jones, Riddick is a psychopathic killer recently transferred to Butcher Bay and determined to use every means available to ensure his escape. To do so, he must navigate the three circles of hell within this terrifying facility (single-max, double-max, and finally triple-max, where prisoners are placed in cryogenic sleep and awakened for just two minutes each day for necessary procedures), and encounter the sinister inhabitants of the sewers and mines.

Assault on Dark Athena picks up immediately after the events of the first game. Jones, who originally delivered Riddick to Butcher Bay, helped him escape. While in suspended animation on his ship, they find themselves sucked into the Dark Athena, a gigantic mercenary vessel captained by Gail Revas and her second-in-command, Skinner. Riddick manages to evade capture and must then attempt to free the captives, including the former captain of the Dark Athena, and help a little girl, Lynn, hiding in the ventilation shafts. And when, after a difficult ordeal, Riddick finally manages to escape the ship, crammed with automated, soulless drones, in an evacuation shuttle, fate strikes him again... Will he have to return to the Dark Athena again?
