Description : The Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of intense Cinematic horror games with branching narratives where your decisions shape the course of events. House of Ashes is the third game in the series. Iraq, 2003. As the conflict draws to a close, a military squad, accompanied by CIA agent Rachel King, is tasked with investigating a potential chemical weapons factory at the foot of the Zagros Mountains. Upon arriving, the search party is ambushed by a local patrol led by Sergeant Salim Othman. During the battle, an earthquake opens a sinkhole, plunging both squads into the buried ruins of a Sumerian temple, where something sinister has awakened in the darkness. Ancient, ravenous creatures have found new prey. The squad will face terrifying discoveries and make impossible decisions as they navigate the underground labyrinth. Will they choose to survive at all costs, or put aside old rivalries and unite with their recent enemies? The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes turned out to be a work in progress, a solid continuation of the series, and, ultimately, a solid game—not particularly scary, but engaging enough to motivate players to see it through to the end, and even replay it. Supermassive Games has no plans to stop working on the anthology: the next installment, according to the long-time Guardian, promises to be "more homely"—a clear hint at the setting of the next game.
