Total War: WARHAMMER II is the second installment in the trilogy that began with the cult classic Total War: WARHAMMER. It introduces a new, gripping campaign, "The Great Vortex," set across the vast continents of Lustria, Ulthuan, Naggaroth, and the Southlands. As the story unfolds, the action intensifies, culminating in an epic finale unlike any other in the Total War series. Players assume the role of one of eight legendary lords, leading four iconic races from the world of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. To stabilize or finally destroy the Great Vortex, he will need to perform a series of arcane rituals and thwart all rival attempts to do the same. All Legendary Lords have unique starting positions, and each of the four races has its own playstyle, campaign mechanics, storyline, military traditions, armies, monsters, schools of magic, and legendary characters.

Conquer the world together. All Total Warâ„¢ WARHAMMER II races will be available in single-player and multiplayer campaigns, as well as custom and multiplayer battles. Since each race has two Legendary Lords with unique starting positions, you can play the campaign with a friend playing as the same race. The world of Total War: WARHAMMER II. Millennia ago, repelling the Chaos invasion, the great mages of the High Elves created a vast arcane vortex. They intended it to draw the Winds of Magic from the world and force the daemon hordes back into the Realm of Chaos. Now the Great Vortex is losing stability. The world is once again in danger of destruction. Powerful forces are already preparing to take action to save the planet from catastrophe. But there are those who seek to harness the energy of the dying vortex for their own terrible purposes. The race has begun, and the winner will take the entire world. Prince Tyrion, the Champion of Ulthuan, rules the High Elves, who desperately try to stabilize the Great Vortex raging over their continent. The Slann Mage-Priest Mazdamundi, seated upon a palanquin throne, sends his armies of lizardmen north from Lustria. He, too, seeks to prevent the cataclysm, but the plans of the Old Ones are more important to him. The Witch King Malekith commands the brutal hordes of Dark Elves to abandon Naggaroth and the sinister Black Arks. He senses the Vortex's weakness and seeks to exploit it. The Skaven, led by Queek Headgnaw, lie in wait. From their overcrowded underground cities, they gaze greedily upon the riches of the surface. Their plan is still unknown, but soon the whole world will know... Four races, four paths, one goal: to harness the Great Vortex for good or evil.
