The Colonists is a city-building sandbox where you control a team of self-creating robots. You won't be fighting or killing enemies in the game. The game's story is meditative. You land on a planet, begin simple missions that require you to build a settlement, and then refine your town according to your preferences. The game also features a "free mode" where you create your own island, deploy robots, and begin building a city from the resources you've collected. You're living your dream, so to speak. The player will experience three technological eras of human development alongside the robots. You'll be the first to build railway stations, followed by railcar factories. Next, you'll explore the sea, studying the structure of boats and motors, gradually moving away from steam engines. Afterwards, you'll improve your engines, creating your first car.
